Conclusion of Vacancy forming in Oerlikon
As previously informed, a new Leerstand experiment has been undertaken in Zurich at Oerlikerpark.
This experiment was set in an open park area. The trees in the park and the chosen packing paper emphasised as perfect condition to undertake the new attempt.
Furthermore, the enriching discussion with the public which followed after the successful experiment conceived the vacancy representative to continue and expand her research.
Forming Vacancy in Zurich – Oerlikerpark
A new attempt of forming vacancy will be made this autumn by the vacancy representative.
The action will take place at Oerlikerpark in Zurich, on Saturday, 13 November 2010, starting around 5:30 pm. More info: magicbox
The Oerlikerpark was newly built in 2001, in a former industrial district of Zurich. It was rewarded as an excellent example of architecture.
Since the industries closed down, Oerlikon changed his face and is becoming a vivid district, attractive to families and city dwellers.
This is an interesting background, to form “Leerstand” – therefore, come, see and learn!

Summary of 3 Experiments – Vorschlag zur temporären Leerstandsbildung
After three Experiments about forming temporary Vacancy have been executed on different locations with various material, it is time for a recap.
Most of the Experiments were quite difficult to perform due to weather conditions. Especially the strong wind didn’t cope with the chosen material, which was too unsteady to built even short-term Vacancy.
Nevertheless, all the material have been selected, because of their mobile and easily fitting qualities. When the room components of the existing architecture were almost completely closed already – as the bus stop, where only one side had to be added – forming Vacancy was most effectually.
The passage way and the parking area would be appropriate for short until mid-term Vacancies, as there are alternative ways to pass through the place. The bus stop is still in use and therefore, not ideal for proposing Vacancy.
